Red Onions

This recipe for cough-syrup is as old as the hills and was probably thought of on top of one. But this is a very simple, and healing remedy, and despite the sound doesn't taste that bad. It's also a tiny bit sentimental as it was one of the first herbal remedies I ever learned about.

Thinly slice on red onion. Layer the slices in a bowl, sprinkling each layer generously with brown sugar. Once you’ve finished cover the bowl and set it in the fridge overnight. The next day strain off the brown syrup and take 1 tablespoon as needed for coughs.

There's no need to add water to this blend due to the high water content in the onions themselves. And as it will likely be needed a lot in the winter months, it is quite easy to make in quantity. Many blessings!
