Bee Balm Flowers

This is a good cough syrup type of remedy for the colder months. An oxymel is a solution made from honey, vinegar, and sometimes a bit of water. This can be used by itself as a remedy or infused with various herbs to increase its effect. So today's recipe will be doing the later and infusing this solution with herbs.

Fill a jar with chopped fresh bee balm

Fill it 1/4 with local honey

Fill the rest of the jar with apple cider vinegar

Cover with a PLASTIC lid (as vinegar will corrode and eat through a metal lid leaving a black goo in your preparation.)

Let sit for about 4 to 6 weeks shaking every day. Use as needed for coughs, congested lungs, and sore throats. It is especially good when there is a lot of congestion present.
